First Congregational Church UCC

April is Child Abuse

Prevention Month

Pinwheel GardenofSupport

We are excited and proud to be joining the Child Advocacy Center of Shiawassee County in their 2018 Paint Our Town Blue campaign to help raise awareness and prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. The Church and CCDC are planting a blue pinwheel garden to show our support.

Blue Pinwheels have been used as a symbol since 2008 in a national Pinwheels for Prevention campaign to raise awareness of child abuse prevention. The pinwheel is the primary vehicle for conveying that prevention works! It is not not used to represent children who have been abused it is a reflection of hope, health and safety. It is an uplifting symbol of childhood. It represents the efforts to ensure the healthy development of children, while recognizing that child development is a building block for community and economic development. When we invest in heathy child development, we are investing in our community.

The United Church of Christ

The UCC is a church of firsts, a church of extravagant welcome, and a church where "....they may all be one" (John 17:21)

We believe in a God that is still speaking, a God that is all-loving and inclusive. We are a church that welcomes and accepts everyone as they are, where your mind is nourished as much as your soul.
